Day 6 Spider Girl
The more arms the harder to choose what to wear. She may not have the greatest taste in clothes to wear but she sure knows how to make them for others.
Drawing my characters as mythical creatures again (some are re-posts). Mika’s design is based off a black widow, but I’ve always liked side-associating her with theriposidae, the arachnid family that contains “bird-eating spiders.” If you know what I mean, ahaha..
The originals are currently on sale online and in person through the Hive Gallery and Studios (729 S. Spring St., Los Angeles, California 90014). I have a feature this month and will be there at Art Walk on Thursday night if you want to meet up!
DAY 6 - SPIDER GIRL
this is probably my favorite 2 page spread from my sketchbook right now
Born rather than created, Arachne (alt title: [REDACTED]) was a First-Dimensional born on ‘human’ soil; she was raised, oblivious to her true abilities, by magicians seeking to harness First-Dimensional power in a compliant, ‘domesticated’ form.
Her father was Samael, and her mother was a child of Monoe. Arachne’s parents being (relatively) supreme deities renders her both overwhelmingly powerful and tragically weak. As she was not taught how to use her power properly, using it wears permanently on her constitution. Her heart is as fragile as her body, and her talents are limited to domestic, human acts; knitting, sewing, and cooking.
Her true form is unknown to her— as she was raised by immortal humans— until she becomes blinded by an uncontrollable rage. She is rumored to control and reanimate the wrathful dead; even from years far past, in worlds far beyond.
Arachne is the youngest full-blooded First-Dimensional, and the only one raised by humans.
How I feel about my little sisters dating.
Some girls for the 30 monster girl challenge
